  • Android 2.3: Settings > Applications > Development menu;
  • Android 4.0: Settings > Developer options
  • Android 4.2.2: Settings > About phone > Build number > Developer options
• Connect the phone to PC and install ADB driver for your device.
  • ADB drivers for U8686
  • Generic ADB drivers
  • You may use this ADB driver installer if you don't have ADB driver for your phone.
• Root the smartphone.
• We recommend using Vroot or Kingo solution to root your device.
• Restart the smartphone after rooting has been completed.

Kyivstar Terra and Aqua: unlock works with factory firmware only.

Phones with the locked bootloader: during Direct (Service Provider) Unlock procedure using Download Mode connection, bootloader of this phone will be unlocked automatically.

It's mandatory to root device before unlock!

This option is introduced for advanced users that have clear understanding what they do with the phone during all stages of repair.

Procedure:

The operation takes 4 steps:

1. Restore security data file:
   • Download Repair file for your phone from Smart-Clip2 section of boot-loader.com website -> Huawei -> U8XXX -> Repair_Files
   • Flash Repair File:
     • Choose appropriate Repair File (in SKF format)
     • Select carrier's settings in the bottom drop-down list
       • Execute the following Linux shell commands on your PC with ADB Shell:
         1. adb shell
         2. cd cust
         3. ls
            XXX - this is the operator's name. It can be different on your phone
         4. ls XXX
            YYY - this is the country
       • So you should find XXX/YYY in the "carrier's settings" list and use these settings for repair. These are the provider settings of your CURRENT firmware (the fw version that actually in the phone now).
     • Push "Repair Security Area" button and wait for the procedure to finish
2. Flash original firmware file for your model: Battery should be minimum 50% charged before re-flashing!
   • Download flash file either from file area at boot-loader.com -> Huawei ->, or from another trusted source.
   • Copy entire dload folder (with update.app in it) to the root directory of the MICRO SD card and flash it accordingly to the manual that is packed with each flash file as pdf document.
3. Validate upgrade:
   You MUST perform all the above actions due to peculiarity of upgrade process of Huawei Android smartphones.
   • After upgrade, power the phone ON (if it wasn't powered ON automatically)
   • Dial *#06# and check phone's IMEI - it should be 11111111111111
   • DON'T power the phone OFF and leave it in this state for 10 minutes
   • Power the phone OFF, remove the battery and wait for 1-2 minutes; install it back into the phone and fully power it ON once again
   • Dial *#06# and:
     • if IMEI is still "11111111111111", go to stage 4
     • if IMEI is "0", return to stage 2, and on the stage 3 increase time when the phone should be in powered ON state to 15-30 min.
4. Repair IMEI of the phone
   After 3 above stages, IMEI of the phone will remain blank, so you need to restore it. Use the general IMEI Repair manual for Huawei smartphones for it.

Known problems and solutions (KPNS):

• No repair file for my model: Save Huawei security area from the fully working phone (Qualcomm -> service tab of Smart-Clip2) and send it to us for the analysis
• WI-FI don't work or Notification/status bar missing: repeat the procedure, but use another provider data that corresponds with the firmware file you are flashing
• IMEI is null/blank or can not connect to WI-FI signal: repeat the procedure with paying more attention to the "Stage 3"
